Bear Lake history

It was clear to us from the beginning, that dogs would be an integral part of our lives and that our children should grow up in their company.
3 dogs of various breeds accompanied us faithfully, until in
1980 our first Bobtail/Old English Sheepdog joined the family.
It was the bitch "Pennylane On Top", called Mischa who bewitched us with her incomparable charm and character. She instilled in us a love and fascination for this robust, dependable and lovable british sheepdog breed which has stayed with us ever since. It was Mischa, the bearlike, typical Bobtail who inspired the “Bear” in our kennel name. At the time, we lived near the shore of a small romantic lake, hence
"Bear Lake" .
At the age of three, Mischa had her first litter and with it, laid the exceptional (HD-free) foundation stone for our Old English Sheepdog  kennel, and for our great passion.

Since 1983 we have 1-2 litters a year. We place great emphasis on strong and healthy dogs, and we raise them with great care in our house and in a large adventure garden. The first few weeks are very important ones in a young dogs development, and we take care to allow our pups a lot of contact to people and to their environment during this time, giving them the best possible start in a happy and balanced dog’s life.
Any interested future pup owners can consult us on the care of these dogs, and we naturally remain available for any questions that may arise in the future.
